IIT-Delhi has joined hands with the International Energy Agency, signing a Memorandum of Understanding to further the role of energy technology innovation in clean energy transitions. This partnership was announced on Wednesday, with officials highlighting the agreement's potential impact.
Signed at the IEA's Paris headquarters, the agreement lays a groundwork for collaboration between the two institutions. It details areas such as policy analysis and technology trend exchange, specifically focusing on emerging and developing economies. IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol emphasized the vast potential in new energy economies, contingent on policy, investment, and expertise.
The memorandum is expected to dismantle current barriers via knowledge exchange, promoting best practices to help countries deploy clean technologies and reach climate goals. A recently published joint report examines economic opportunities and policies necessary for the expansion of the new energy economy in these regions.
