The Madhya Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) apprehended a 33-year-old individual allegedly involved in an interstate illegal arms trade this week. Authorities identified the suspect as Nepal Singh, a resident of Undikhodari Palsud in Barwani district. He was arrested on the Agra-Mumbai Road in Indore with two country-made pistols, magazines, and over 200 barrels in his possession.

According to an official release from the ATS, Singh, during initial interrogations, admitted to ordering pistols and barrels from Surat, Gujarat, with the intent to sell them. He is reportedly connected to the Sikligar community, notorious for illegal arms manufacturing and smuggling across state lines. The ongoing investigation aims to identify other individuals in the supply chain who function as couriers and providers of logistics and materials.

The authorities have registered a case against Singh at the STF/ATS Police Station in Bhopal under section 25(1)(a) of the Arms Act, signalling further investigation. In a continued crackdown, the ATS previously targeted illicit arms factories in Khargone, netting arrests and exposing a network. As part of 'Operation Prahar,' initiatives aim to dismantle illegal arms activities throughout Madhya Pradesh.
