Legal Wrangle: Russia Targets Shell Units in Major Lawsuit
South Korea's Constitutional Court

In a significant legal move, Russia's Prosecutor General has filed a lawsuit against units of energy giant Shell, documents revealed on Friday.

The lawsuit, submitted to Moscow's Arbitration Court, targets eight Shell divisions and involves multiple Russian entities, including Gazprom Export and the Sakhalin regional authorities. The case emerges in the context of heightened geopolitical tensions and ongoing repercussions from Shell's withdrawal from Russian projects.

Previously, Shell participated in substantial initiatives like the Sakhalin liquefied natural gas plant. However, following Russia's military actions in Ukraine and subsequent Western sanctions, Shell exited these endeavors. The company has declined to comment on the current legal proceedings.
