India and Kazakhstan Strengthen Ties with Joint Military Exercise KAZIND

The eighth edition of the India-Kazakhstan joint military exercise, known as KAZIND, is currently taking place at the Surya Foreign Training Node in Auli, Uttarakhand. This collaborative effort aims to conduct joint subconventional operations under the auspices of Chapter VII of the United Nations Mandate.
Starting on September 30, 2024, the exercise seeks to bolster interoperability and cooperation, particularly in counter-terrorism contexts. The Indian contingent includes 120 personnel, prominently featuring a battalion from the renowned Kumaon Regiment and members of the Indian Air Force. Additional staff from various supporting arms and services participate to ensure comprehensive military representation.
Training activities so far have encompassed yoga, martial arts, rock craft training, and special heliborne operations. Yoga sessions underscored the importance of physical and mental well-being, while martial arts routines showcased hand-to-hand combat skills. Rock craft training furnished soldiers with vital techniques for rugged terrains, and heliborne operations procedures emphasized rapid troop deployment via helicopter in hostile areas.
