Rajasthan Invests Rs 5 Lakh Crore in Solar Energy Revolution
Rajasthan is set to receive Rs 5 lakh crore investment in the energy sector over the next five years. In a significant development for India's renewable energy sector, Rajasthan is poised to attract investments totaling Rs 5 lakh crore over the next five years, according to Minister of State Heera Lal Nagar.
The minister announced plans for 1,000 MW of rooftop solar projects aimed at strengthening the state's grid and transmission systems. Currently, Rajasthan produces 20,000 MW of solar energy, with only 5,000 MW used locally and the rest distributed across the nation.
At the Renewable Energy India Expo 2024 organized by Informa Markets, officials emphasized the need for integrated storage solutions to keep pace with global energy demand, which is projected to see electricity's share rise to 31 percent by 2050.
