India-Nepal Forge Ahead with New Pipeline Projects

Nepal Oil Corporation and Indian Oil Corporation have ratified an agreement to spearhead the construction of two crucial pipeline projects. The momentous accord, signed on Thursday, heralds a significant step in solidifying energy ties between India and Nepal.
The new ventures include the 50 km-long pipeline from Siliguri, India, to Jhapa, Nepal, and a 62 km project connecting Amlekhgunj to Lothar in Chitwan. Together, these pipelines aim to enhance energy security and optimize the petroleum supply chain across the hilly terrains of Nepal.
Indian and Nepalese officials, including Pankaj Jain from the Indian Ministry of Petroleum and Gas, emphasized the projects' importance amid ongoing efforts to fortify bilateral relationships under India's 'Neighborhood First' policy and ensuring a stable energy future for Nepal.
