BSF Nabs Illegal Bangladeshi Nationals Attempting Border Crossing
The Border Security Force in Meghalaya apprehended five Bangladeshi nationals attempting to flee in an auto-rickshaw near the India-Bangladesh border. These individuals, previously working in Chennai, aimed to cross into Bangladesh illegally. Recently, Assam police also detained fourteen Bangladeshis amid increased regional vigilance due to tensions in Bangladesh.

In a bold move, the Border Security Force's Meghalaya division successfully apprehended five Bangladeshi nationals on October 2. The individuals were caught traveling in an auto-rickshaw near the India-Bangladesh border, as confirmed by the BSF Meghalaya Frontier PRO. They had attempted to flee upon spotting BSF troops during regular patrol duties.
Investigations later revealed that these individuals had journeyed from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, where they were employed in a garment factory. Their ultimate aim was to illegally re-enter Bangladesh. The apprehended individuals have since been handed over to the Police Station in Dalu, located in the West Garo Hills district.
Just a day earlier, Assam police had arrested fourteen Bangladeshi nationals in the South Salmara and Karimganj districts. These arrests come amidst heightened vigilance due to current unrest in Bangladesh. Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted the discovery of Indian Aadhaar cards on nine infiltrators and emphasized enhanced security measures implemented by the BSF to curb illegal border crossings.
