In a significant collaboration, Gautam Adani's conglomerate will provide clean energy for Google's cloud services and operations in India, the companies announced on Thursday.
The Adani group is set to deliver 61.4 megawatts of electricity from its solar-wind hybrid project within the expansive 30-gigawatt Khavda renewable energy park in Gujarat.
Anticipating commercial operations to commence by the third quarter of 2025, Google plans to power its entire cloud infrastructure with clean energy by 2030, marking a major step toward sustainability.
Further details emerged at the 'Google for India' event, where a partnership with CleanMax was unveiled. This agreement will see 125.4 MW of clean energy sourced to power Google's offices and cloud regions in India.
The energy will be derived from a combination of 66 MW of solar energy from Rajasthan and 59.4 MW of wind energy from Karnataka, with operations expected to start by the last quarter of 2025.
This strategic move, according to Google's announcement at the said event and Adani's official statement, aligns with Google's 24/7 carbon-free energy target, ensuring its cloud services are supported by clean energy, thus contributing to sustainable development in India.
