Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli met with Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Bangladesh's Minister for Forest, Environment, Climate Change, and Water Resources, on Thursday in Kathmandu. The meeting aimed at bolstering bilateral ties between the two nations.
Held at the Prime Minister's Official Residence at Baluwatar, both leaders engaged in discussions on expanding cooperation, with a significant focus on the energy sector. The meeting was attended by key officials, including Bishnu Rimal, Oli's Chief Advisor, Bhrigu Dhungana, Under Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ghanshyam Bhandari, the Nepali envoy to Bangladesh.
Syeda Rizwana Hasan's visit was linked to a tripartite energy agreement involving Bangladesh, India, and Nepal. The deal facilitates the export of Nepalese electricity to Bangladesh through Indian channels. A Joint Steering Committee meeting subsequently confirmed the agreement's signing, marking a significant step in regional energy collaboration.
