Russia has brushed off the possibility of nuclear negotiations with the United States due to the ongoing issue of NATO's expansion into post-Soviet regions, according to Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

"We see no point in dialogue with Washington without respect for Russia's fundamental interests. First of all, this is the problem of NATO's expansion into the post-Soviet space, which poses threats to common security," Zakharova stated firmly.

On Tuesday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized that Russia is not considering signing a new treaty with the United States to replace the current agreement limiting strategic nuclear weapons, which is set to expire in 2026. Peskov highlighted the necessity for the treaty to be expanded to include other states.
