Anil Ambani-led Reliance Group has revealed ambitious plans to establish significant renewable energy projects in Bhutan. The company announced on Wednesday its intention to develop 1,270 megawatts of solar and hydroelectric power in the Himalayan nation.

The announcement follows a strategic partnership with Druk Holding and Investments Ltd (DHI), the commercial and investment arm of the Royal Government of Bhutan. This collaboration aims to enhance the investment landscape for renewable and green energy projects in the country.

Reliance Group will set up a 500 MW solar plant in phases and a 770 MW hydro project. The initiatives not only align with Bhutan's net-zero goals but also represent substantial foreign direct investment by an Indian company in Bhutan, signaling a commitment to sustainable development and economic growth.
