BHOPAL: The Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSE&L), under the Ministry of Education, successfully hosted a two-day Strengthening Teaching-Learning and Results for States (STARS) knowledge-sharing workshop in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, from September 30 to October 1. The workshop, which centered on school-to-work transitions and enhancing the assessment system, was inaugurated by Uday Pratap Singh, State Minister of Transport and School Education. The event underscored the Ministry of Education's dedication to creating a robust educational framework that equips students for the future workforce.

In his opening remarks, Singh highlighted the significance of the National Education Policy 2020, emphasizing its role in the overall development of children. Sanjay Kumar, Secretary of DoSE&L, provided essential context for the workshop, stressing the importance of closing the gap between education and employment. Additional Secretary Vipin Kumar welcomed participants, underscoring the event's broad learning scope. Dr. Sanjay Goyal, Secretary of Education for Madhya Pradesh, noted the workshop's potential for inter-state learning and collaboration.

The first panel, moderated by Vipin Kumar, examined the role of policy frameworks like the National Education Policy 2020, National Curriculum Framework (NCF), and National Credit Framework (NCrF) in facilitating school-to-work transitions. Discussions centred on the integration of skill education into school curricula and the need for continuous updates to match industry standards. NCERT Director Dinesh Prasad Saklani stressed the need for departments to work together towards a common vision of strengthening the education system.

Later, a panel moderated by Usha Titus discussed psychometric analysis and career counselling in skill education, focusing on the effectiveness of career counselling programs and evolving trends. On the second day, Vipin Kumar emphasized the importance of improving assessment models, while presentations by other dignitaries highlighted innovative practices in educational assessment and the integration of assessment outcomes for informed decision-making. The workshop concluded with key strategies for enhancing assessment systems and school-to-work transitions.
