In a detailed inspection at Mumbai's Wadi Bunder Coaching Depot on Tuesday, Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized that passenger safety, comfort, cleanliness, and service reliability are top priorities. Vaishnaw examined the depot's infrastructure, technical enhancements, and future expansion projects.

Focusing on train safety and maintenance, the Minister reviewed upgrades made to LHB coaches, such as the integration of TPU rings to prevent spring failures, thereby improving safety and ride comfort. He commended the depot for maintaining high hygiene standards, highlighted by the innovation of an in-house designed litter collector showcased in the 'Best from Waste' exhibition.

Vaishnaw also inspected the cleanliness of employee facilities and personally demonstrated advanced cleaning tools, including a Dyson vacuum cleaner used in the '14-Minute Miracle' cleaning process of the Vande Bharat Express. The use of ultrasonic air leakage detection systems and the FIBA system were reviewed to ensure safety measures like air brake integrity and timely maintenance.

A key part of the inspection was the review of VR technology for staff training and IoT-based real-time water level monitoring, which guarantees a steady supply of clean water. Vaishnaw toured the Vande Bharat Store to ensure essential parts are readily available for timely repairs, and visited the Basic Training Centre to observe LHB coach training models.

At the Integrated Data Centre, Vaishnaw interacted with the RailMadad team handling passenger complaints, expressing satisfaction in their prompt resolution efforts. A newly developed app for managing fire extinguishers was also showcased, ensuring robust fire safety measures. The Minister concluded his visit by commending Wadi Bunder Depot's adoption of innovative technologies, reaffirming Indian Railways' commitment to passenger safety and comfort.
