Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel paid homage to the overflowing Narmada River by visiting the Sardar Sarovar Dam site at Ekta Nagar on Tuesday afternoon. The water level of the Sardar Sarovar Dam, crucial for Gujarat's water and agricultural revolution, has reached its peak of 138.68 meters, or 455 feet.

The dam's total water storage capacity at this height is 9460 million cubic meters. Since August 11, the Sardar Sarovar Dam has been overflowing due to ample rainfall this season. So far, the reservoir has overflowed for 51 days, totaling 10,012 million cubic meters of water.

This year, the Narmada scheme has generated 1343 MW of electricity at the riverbed and canal head powerhouses. Chief Minister Patel offered drinking water to 10,014 villages, 183 cities, and 7 municipal areas, benefiting 4 crore people. He worshipped the water amidst chanting in a joyful atmosphere.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expedited the completion of the Narmada Dam by approving the installation of gates within 17 days of taking office. The state government completed the work, including 30 gates, 9 months ahead of schedule.

Since its inauguration in 2017 by Prime Minister Modi, the Sardar Sarovar Dam has reached its maximum level five times. Under Modi's leadership, water management programs have redirected surplus water to other reservoirs and lakes in North Gujarat, filling 115 dams in Saurashtra through the Souni Yojana.

This year, the overflowing Narmada water has been released into 10 state rivers, revitalizing them. Chief Minister Patel continues the tradition of worshipping the Narmada's water power, which is vital for Gujarat's development.
