Senior BRS leader and MLC K. Kavitha has been admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad for medical tests. She recently checked in, with the examinations expected to conclude today. Her public relations officer revealed that Kavitha experienced several health issues, including gynecological problems and high fever, during her time in Tihar Jail in connection to the Delhi Excise Policy case.
Earlier, Kavitha had undergone medical evaluations at AIIMS in Delhi for these health concerns. Both the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) have arrested her in relation to the case, with the CBI taking her into custody on April 11, 2024.
Officials indicated that the CBI probe was based on a report filed by the Delhi Chief Secretary in July, which highlighted prima facie violations of the GNCTD Act 1991, Transaction of Business Rules (ToBR)-1993, Delhi Excise Act 2009, and Delhi Excise Rules 2010. The ED recently submitted a supplementary chargesheet against Kavitha and other accused individuals in the Rouse Avenue Court. Allegations include misconduct in modifying the excise policy and extending improper benefits to license holders. The Supreme Court has granted Kavitha bail, noting the extended duration of her detention and the complexity of the trial.
