A fresh spell of rain lashed Hyderabad city on Tuesday morning, providing much-needed respite from the persistent heat. Visuals showed commuters in raincoats navigating the rain-soaked roads.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) for most parts of the city remained satisfactory as of Tuesday morning. Specifically, the AQI for Sanathnagar stood at 65, for Ramachandrapuram it registered at 79, for the ECIL Kapra area it was 77, and for the IITH Kandi it recorded 75—all falling within the satisfactory category.

Earlier on Monday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued a thunderstorm alert for 17 districts of the state. The capital city of Telangana experienced a sudden downpour on Sunday, catching many holiday-goers off guard.

Despite the disruptions, the rain offered relief from the prevailing heat. According to recent reports, India's monsoon rainfall this year has been the highest since 2020, with above-average precipitation for three consecutive months. This has significantly helped the country recover from last year's drought, the weather department confirmed on Monday.

Rainfall over the country from June through September was reported to be 107.6 percent of its long period average—the highest since 2020, as per the India Meteorological Department (ANI).
