The Mysuru Lokayukta has initiated an inquiry into the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land allotment scam involving Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, starting Tuesday. This action follows the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) on September 27 against Siddaramaiah and others.
The FIR, lodged by the Mysuru Lokayukta, includes charges under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) such as 351, 420, 340, 09, and 120B. The complaint accuses Siddaramaiah, his wife, brother-in-law, and others of illegal allotment of 14 prime sites in Mysuru city to the Chief Minister's wife.
One of the complainants, social activist Snehamayi Krishna, received the first notice from the Mysuru Lokayukta. He also petitioned the Karnataka High Court, seeking the transfer of the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Despite the allegations, Siddaramaiah remains firm against the BJP's demands for his resignation, stating no technical evidence is present, only documentary proof. The BJP has criticized Congress for allegedly supporting corrupt leaders.
