KC Venugopal, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary, condemned the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) actions against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, labeling them a "pure vendetta" aimed at destabilizing a democratically elected government.
Venugopal detailed the sequence of events, starting with a private complaint, action by the Governor, followed by a Lokayukta FIR, and culminating in the ED case. He asserted these actions reveal an agenda of intimidation and political harassment, accusing Prime Minister Modi's government of unconstitutional acts. Jairam Ramesh, Congress General Secretary, bolstered this stance, pledging to prove Siddaramaiah's innocence.
The ED registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) on Monday against Siddaramaiah in an alleged money laundering case. Siddaramaiah's wife offered to surrender 14 plots allocated to her as compensation. The BJP has demanded Siddaramaiah's resignation, alleging misuse of authority, while Siddaramaiah countered by questioning why demands weren't equally placed on other politicians.
