As Udhampur district in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir gears up for the final phase of polling, Central Armed Police Forces (CRPF) and Quick Response Teams (QRTs) have been strategically deployed. The election, covering 40 Assembly constituencies, demands extensive security measures to ensure smooth proceedings.

Udhampur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amod Ashok Nagpure emphasized the steps taken to maintain order. "As polling is set for October 1, we are dispatching polling parties today. Our focus is on ensuring a peaceful and smooth election process. Special night QRTs and night domination measures have been implemented to secure the environment throughout the night," said SSP Nagpure.

Particular attention has been given to Basantgarh, Latti, and Dudu areas, with additional security personnel deployed to these sectors. SSP Nagpure urged voters to actively participate in the election process. The high-stakes campaigning concluded with 40 constituencies set for polling, including 24 in the Jammu division and the rest in Kashmir. This election, the first since the abrogation of Article 370 and in a decade, is seeing a fierce multi-cornered contest.

The Election Commission reported voter turnouts of 61% and 57.31% in the first two phases of polling. The final phase of polling is scheduled for October 1, with vote counting to follow on October 8.
