President Droupadi Murmu highlighted the critical role doctors play in society, underscoring their ability to make a life-or-death difference during her address at the 10th Convocation Ceremony of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Medical Sciences (ABVIMS). The event saw Union Health Minister JP Nadda and Dr. VK Paul of NITI Aayog in attendance.

"You have taken on a big responsibility. In our country, doctors are treated as gods because they take care of people's health. Please remember there should be a healing touch with the medicines you prescribe," Murmu emphasized. Addressing recent violence against medical staff, she called for patients and their carers to remain calm, noting that no doctor wishes harm upon their patients.

During the COVID pandemic, doctors and nurses worked tirelessly, earning the country's gratitude, she added. Murmu also called for a focus on women's health, citing the benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, and noted the significant advancements in healthcare over the past decade, including the increase in medical institutions and postgraduate seats.

Union Health Minister JP Nadda congratulated the graduating students, stressing the government's commitment to superior medical education. "Our students and scholars are the human resource capital for a better future," he said.
