Maharashtra Govt Approves Key Decisions: Gratuity Limit Raised, New Teacher Posts Created

The Maharashtra government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, announced a series of pivotal decisions on Monday. Chief among them is the increase in death and retirement gratuity limits to Rs 20 lakh and the creation of 4,860 new special teacher positions in the state.
A ten percent salary hike for Kotwals and a compassionate policy were also approved. Additional approvals include interest-free secondary loan assistance to the MMRDA and a subsidy scheme for rearing indigenous cows.
The Cabinet meeting further saw the nod to expedite housing schemes for the poor and affordable rental housing for ineligible slum dwellers in Dharavi. Concessions on the payment of land premiums to the MMRDA were also given a green light.
Financial criteria for the Krishi Swavalamban Yojana targeting Scheduled Caste and Neo-Buddhist farmers have been increased. Approval was also granted for the construction of the Hasala, Umbadga, Peth, and Kava Kolhapur Dams in Latur District.
Home guards in the state will see an increase in allowances, and a selection committee for recruitment in Ayurveda and Unani colleges will be established. Furthermore, 26 more ITI institutes will be nominated, and employees will be excused for a one-day technical break.
The Cabinet approved relief in stamp duty for the rehabilitation of Metro Three project victims and decided to reduce the government guarantee fee rate, although the fee itself will not be waived. A revised policy for military schools will be implemented and the Stamp Act will be amended for better revenue generation.
As Maharashtra gears up for legislative Assembly elections in 288 constituencies, the upcoming contest will see the Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition up against the Maha Yuti Alliance. The Election Commission of India is yet to announce election dates.
