In a stern action against cybercrime, Punjab Police, in collaboration with Assam Police, have arrested two individuals from Guwahati, recovering Rs 5.25 crore, ATM cards, and mobile phones. Punjab Police Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, praised Ludhiana Police for their commendable work in dismantling an inter-state cyber fraud gang. Yadav stated, 'Two persons have been arrested from Guwahati, with the help of Assam Police, and seven more persons have been nominated. A recovery of Rs 5.25 crore, along with ATM cards and mobile phones, marks the largest-ever recovery in India as per I4C data.'

The Cybercrime team of Ludhiana Commissionerate has received the Director General's Commendation Disc for their unwavering dedication to public safety. This achievement sets a strong precedent in the fight against cybercrime. The DGP also thanked the Assam Police for their support in the operation.

Yadav emphasized, 'Punjab Police is working round-the-clock to take immediate action against New Age crimes and ensure citizen safety as per the directions of CM Bhagwant Mann.' Earlier, on September 10, Union Home Minister Amit Shah highlighted the importance of cyber security for national development during the first Foundation Day program of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) in the national capital. Shah called for unified efforts to secure cyberspace.

Shah noted that I4C, established under the 'Safe Cyber Space' campaign initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015, has evolved into a robust pillar of cyber security in India. He stressed that technological advancements, while beneficial, also introduce new threats, making cyber security a crucial aspect of national security. (ANI)
