Kathua District Gears Up for Final Phase of Assembly Elections
Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir is set for the final phase of Assembly Elections on October 01. All arrangements, including 704 polling booths, have been made under tight security for its 5,06,679 voters. Special polling stations are in place to ensure smooth and inclusive voting.

The Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir is all set for the third and final phase of Assembly Elections on October 01. With a total of 704 polling booths, 704 polling parties equipped with EVMs and VVPATs have been dispatched under strict security measures to their respective stations. The district consists of six Assembly Constituencies (ACs): Bani, Billawar, Basohli, Jasrota, Kathua, and Hiranagar, with a voter base of 5,06,679, including 2,65,420 males, 2,41,256 females, and 3 persons of third gender.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has established 704 polling stations across the district, subdivided into 73 urban and 631 rural stations, to ensure smooth and hassle-free voting. The highest number of registered voters is in 67-Kathua (SC) AC with 1,09,000 voters, consisting of 57,243 males and 51,757 females, facilitated by 131 polling stations, 57 urban and 74 rural.
In the 64-Billawar AC, 94,845 voters are registered, including 49,590 males and 45,255 females, with 130 polling stations, 4 urban and 126 rural. The 68-Hiranagar AC has 88,261 voters with 110 polling stations, 7 urban and 103 rural. The 66-Jasrota AC has 87,092 voters, supported by 132 rural polling stations.
67-Kathua AC leads with the highest number of 1,09,000 voters, supported by 131 polling stations. Other constituencies like 65-Basohli and 63-Bani have made arrangements to ensure all voters can exercise their rights. Specialized polling stations, including all-women, PwD manned, youth-manned, and Green Polling Stations, have been set up across the district to enhance voter turnout.
As the third phase of General Elections to the Legislative Assembly-2024 takes place on October 01, comprehensive arrangements have been put in place to ensure a smooth and peaceful polling process in Kathua.
