Vijayawada district in Andhra Pradesh has ramped up security protocols ahead of the Navratri celebrations, enforcing a robust cordon around local temples. Speaking to reporters on Sunday, City Commissioner SV Rajasekhar Babu assured foolproof arrangements for secure and seamless darshan experiences for devotees.
The security setup involves deploying approximately 4500 police personnel citywide, supplemented by a command center in Vijayawada to ensure comprehensive oversight, officials stated. The district will also see extensive CCTV installations, coupled with drone surveillance, to monitor temple vicinities.
"The Dussehra festival is slated from October 3 to October 12, during which we are deploying foolproof and hassle-free arrangements for shrine visitors," Commissioner Babu said. "We've mobilized 2500 police personnel and 27 platoons for law and order duties. The command center, operated by 200 members, will leverage innovative measures including shift timings and 20 drones," he added.
Anticipating a larger turnout than last year, Babu revealed that the preparations cater to an estimated 16-17 lakh devotees, compared to 13 lakh previously. A total of 20 additional CCTV cameras have been installed for added security.
