A leopard roaming Karkheda village in Tanda tehsil, Rampur, was successfully captured on Sunday by the Uttar Pradesh Forest Department. The operation, conducted with the help of Pilibhit doctors, saw the animal tranquillised and safely contained.

Rajiv Kumar, the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Rampur, confirmed the capture, highlighting the combined efforts of the police department and forest team. 'The leopard is now in a cage and has been tranquillised. There is no need for panic,' he reassured the public, adding that further captures will be made if other leopards are detected.

This event comes on the heels of multiple animal attacks in neighbouring Bahraich, where four individuals, including three children, were injured. DFO Shiv Shankar confirmed a leopard attack in Katarniaghat, resulting in injuries to a 13-year-old girl and a 35-year-old man. The incidents have raised concerns about wildlife interactions in human habitats.
