Chhattisgarh's government has started a campaign to provide concrete houses for the Pahadi Korwa tribe, a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG). This effort aims to replace the tribe's traditional makeshift huts with more secure and permanent housing.

Following directives from Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the campaign has been rolled out in Balrampur district, benefiting approximately 5000 families. These families, who have lived in mud huts for generations, now receive housing under the Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana. Concrete houses are being constructed to mitigate issues such as water leakage and pests that have plagued the community.

Local villagers have reported facing difficulties during the rainy season due to water ingress, as well as threats from snakes and other dangerous insects. However, thanks to the central government's scheme, these problems are being alleviated. Beneficiaries receive Rs 2 lakh in installments to construct houses, along with additional funds for labor and toilets. Hundreds of families have already completed their homes, bringing much-needed relief and joy.

According to District Panchayat CEO Raina Jameel, the Chief Minister is closely monitoring the implementation of the scheme. To ensure smooth delivery of benefits, the administration frequently holds camps across the district. So far, 2400 housing approvals have been given, with 150 completed and more under construction, officials noted.
