Karnataka Upa Lokayukta Upholds Integrity Amid Allegations

Karnataka Upa Lokayukta Justice B Veerappa (Retd) has responded to recent allegations against the institution, stating that any disrespect towards the Lokayukta could prompt anti-corruption proceedings. He emphasized the Lokayukta's commitment to performing its duties with honesty and integrity.
Speaking to ANI, Justice Veerappa highlighted that the Lokayukta operates strictly according to legal procedures and any false cases against the institution will be prosecuted. "There is no question of changing our pattern. We have to go by the procedure. We have to proceed carefully as per the law," he stated.
The statement comes in the wake of a Special Court's directive for an investigation into allegations against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The claims involve the illegal allotment of 14 sites worth Rs 56 crore to his wife by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority. The court has tasked the Karnataka Lokayukta's Mysuru district police with the investigation, to be completed in three months.
