SJVN Inks Major Renewable Energy Pacts with Maharashtra Government
State-owned SJVN signed two pacts with the Maharashtra government to develop pumped storage and floating solar projects worth Rs 48,000 crore. These projects include five pumped storage projects of 8100 MW capacity and a 505 MW floating solar project at Lower Wardha Dam. The agreements expect to create 8,400 jobs.

State-owned SJVN on Thursday inked two significant agreements with the Maharashtra government for the development of pumped storage and floating solar projects. These projects come with a substantial investment of Rs 48,000 crore.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Department of Water Resources of the Maharashtra government involves the development of five pumped storage projects (PSPs) of a combined 8100 MW capacity. These include 800 MW Kolmondapada, 1500 MW Sidgarh, 2000 MW Chornai, 1800 MW Baitarni, and 2000 MW Jalvara, according to a company statement.
The second agreement, signed with the Maharashtra State Power Generation Company (MAHAGENCO), involves the development of a 505 MW floating solar project at Lower Wardha Dam, with the first phase contributing 100 MW. These projects are expected to create approximately 8,400 direct and indirect employment opportunities. The MoUs were signed in Mumbai in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis.
