Addressing the Delhi Legislative Assembly for the first time since his resignation, former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal launched a fierce critique of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Kejriwal said the opposition must be 'sad' to see him and Manish Sisodia in the assembly, following their high-profile arrests.

Kejriwal was jailed over allegations related to the Delhi Excise Policy scam but was granted bail on September 13, prompting his resignation from the Chief Ministerial post. He singled out Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his speech, saying, 'PM Modi is powerful and has many resources, but he is not God.' He expressed gratitude to the Supreme Court for granting his bail, affirming that justice persists in India.

Blasting the BJP for worsening Delhi's conditions during his incarceration, Kejriwal stated that roads around Delhi University, once well-maintained, have deteriorated. He accused BJP of halting beneficial programs such as the elderly's pension and pilgrimage tours. Despite the setbacks, Kejriwal reiterated that AAP remains resilient and warned that BJP would crumble if even two of its leaders were jailed.

On March 21, 2024, Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate over money laundering allegations linked to the now-defunct Delhi excise policy for 2021-2022. He was later detained by the Central Bureau of Investigation, even while already in custody, leading to significant political turbulence in India's capital.
