Prime Minister Narendra Modi's planned visit to Pune on Thursday was cancelled in light of severe waterlogging caused by heavy rainfall in the city. PM Modi was slated to inaugurate multiple projects worth over Rs 20,900 crore, including flagging off a new Metro train service from the district court to Swargate.
Several regions in Maharashtra have been severely affected by the downpour, disrupting train, bus, and flight services across Mumbai and Pune. Although transportation services were scrambled, efforts earlier today have restored normalcy, with Central Railways confirming that all local trains are now operating with minimal delays.
Western Railway suburban services were also resumed on Thursday as floodwaters receded. Despite these efforts, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rainfall warnings for numerous areas within the state. Consequently, local administrations have declared holidays for schools and colleges in both Mumbai and Pune.
