Arunachal Pradesh will soon be home to a Regional Centre of the Kendriya Hindi Sansthan, as assured by Chief Minister Pema Khandu. Speaking at the Silver Jubilee celebration of the Department of Hindi at Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), Khandu pledged to provide a suitable plot of land for the institute to the Sansthan's Director, Prof Sunil Baburao Kulkarni.

Khandu highlighted that Arunachal Pradesh is the only state in the North East to adopt Hindi as its lingua franca. 'For enhancing the quality of the language, it is but obvious that a regional centre of the Kendriya Hindi Sansthan is established here,' he stated. The institute, headquartered in Agra, already operates eight regional centres, including three in the North East: Guwahati, Shillong, and Dimapur.

Commending the RGU Hindi Department on its 25th anniversary, Khandu acknowledged the department's role in producing Hindi language scholars and praised its students for excelling in various literary fields. He emphasized the importance of Hindi in unifying the state's diverse ethnic groups and improving opportunities for locals in national arenas, including entertainment and media.

He also urged RGU to help refine the Hindi spoken in Arunachal, aiming to further integrate the state with the rest of India. The event was attended by university officials, faculty, and students, along with RGU Vice Chancellor Prof. Saket Kushwaha and MLA Nabam Vivek.
