The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested the principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya, BHEL, Ranipur, Haridwar, on charges of demanding and accepting a Rs 30,000 bribe from a complainant. According to an official release, this illegal transaction was part of a scheme where the accused sought monthly payments from contractual workers to ensure their job continuity.

A case was registered based on claims that the principal demanded Rs 10,000 per month from each contractual worker, including guards, sweepers, and gardeners. Initially, the accused sought Rs 80,000 for eight workers over ten months but later reduced the amount to between Rs 50,000 and Rs 60,000 after negotiations.

The CBI set up a trap and apprehended the principal while he was accepting the bribe amount of Rs 30,000 as partial payment. Searches at his residential and official premises resulted in the discovery of incriminating documents. The accused is set to appear before the Competent Court today, and further investigations are underway.
