India-Uzbekistan Strengthen Strategic Partnership

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday met Uzbekistan Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev to discuss a strategic partnership across multiple sectors. The meeting underscored the remarkable growth in India's digital payments ecosystem, opening avenues for cooperation between Uzbek and Indian fintech firms.
During their discussions, they contemplated the substantial investment prospects within the International Financial Services Centre at Gift City, as highlighted by the finance ministry in a post on X. Their talks preceded the 9th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
The ministers explored potential collaborations in IT, education, digital connectivity, renewable energy, civil nuclear energy application's, healthcare, ayurvedic medicine, and pharmaceuticals. Khodjaev assured India of long-term cooperation to enhance trade and business opportunities across these diverse sectors.
