Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand, along with MAUD Principal Secretary Dana Kishore, led a high-level meeting on Monday with officials from GHMC, Hydra, HMDA, Rachakonda, and Cyberabad Police to discuss traffic management during heavy rains. The meeting followed instructions from Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to improve coordination and deploy rapid responses at critical junctions during severe weather.
During the meeting, officials emphasized the need for a proactive, concerted response from all stakeholders. They deliberated on immediate measures required at critical junctions, such as proper diversions, faster transmission of weather and traffic advisories, signages, engineering changes to prevent waterlogging, and improving traffic flow. Participants shared their observations, ongoing measures, and outlined immediate and long-term plans to decongest traffic.
The meeting concluded with decisions to conduct a joint workshop, form a high-level committee including traffic commissioners from the Tri-Police Commissionerates, GHMC, and other departments. Additionally, the group plans to liaise with IT companies, monitor and maintain water levels in major water bodies, leverage technology for better coordination, and establish a common communication platform for all departments.
