Mizoram Agriculture Minister PC Vanlalruata announced on Monday that the state government is focusing on creating markets for locally-grown crops under its recently introduced 'Handholding' policy.
Addressing a function at the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) office, Vanlalruata highlighted efforts to establish four wholesale markets in Aizawl to sell cash crops, vegetables, and other agricultural produce. The initiative aims for sustainable development in the state.
The policy ensures farmers know minimum prices for their crops, aiding in economic self-dependence for many families. The state has earmarked Rs 10 crore for two wholesale markets and is identifying land plots in the Sihphir and Melthum areas. The government will also construct agricultural link roads across Mizoram.
