8 Killed by Lightning Strike in Chhattisgarh: Tragedy Strikes Joratarai Village

In a tragic incident, eight people, including six children, lost their lives due to a lightning strike in Rajnandgaon's Joratarai village, Chhattisgarh on Monday. According to District Collector Sanjay Agarwal, the victims, including six schoolchildren, were seeking shelter from rain under a shed beneath a tree when the lightning struck.

"The lightning struck them, leading to the deaths of all eight individuals, including six children. Officials promptly arrived at the scene and transported the bodies to the hospital. One person sustained injuries in the incident," Agarwal stated. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai affirmed that the government was taking immediate action and providing relief funds to the affected families.

Earlier this month, a similar incident struck the Mohtara village in Chhattisgarh's Baloda Bazar, killing seven and injuring three. The deceased were identified as Mukesh (20), Tankar (30), Santosh (40), Thaneshwar (18), Pokhraj (38), Dev (22), and Vijay (23). The victims were returning from the field when heavy rainfall prompted them to take shelter under a tree.
