Union Minister and BJP leader Sukanta Majumdar launched a scathing attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her government of neglecting dam maintenance and blaming it for the state's flood-like situation. Majumdar questioned Banerjee's annual claims of 'man-made floods,' asking what initiatives she had undertaken to address the issue.

His comments followed Banerjee's letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in which she expressed concern about South Bengal's flooding. She attributed the situation to 'abnormally heavy releases of water' from Damodar Valley Corporation reservoirs in Jharkhand and criticized the central government's handling of the incident.

Speaking on the RG Kar Medical College & Hospital rape-murder case, Majumdar noted that the CBI investigation's success depends on the availability of evidence. He emphasized that no agency could deliver justice without evidence. The BJP, meanwhile, conducted torch marches across West Bengal, accusing the TMC of a systematic failure in handling the case and demanding Banerjee's resignation.
