The death of a young chartered accountant (CA) from Kerala, Anna Sebastin Perayil, has sparked a nationwide debate on work-life balance, mental health, and corporate accountability. Her father, Sibi Joseph, revealed that his daughter frequently cried over the phone due to overwhelming tension and stress at work. Despite urging her to resign, Anna chose to remain at EY for the exposure, tragically collapsing and passing away on July 21.

Joseph recounted that she often worked late into the night, even after returning to her PG accommodation. He claimed she was overburdened with tasks beyond her job scope, depriving her of basic necessities like sleep and food. He added that her manager's cricket obsession led to unpredictable schedules, worsening her workload and stress.

Union Minister Suresh Gopi visited the grieving family and promised to address the issue in Parliament, assuring that concerned agencies would investigate. EY issued a statement expressing sadness and acknowledged the family's concerns, committing to prioritize the well-being of their employees.
