Haryana Police Director General (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur received an accolade from Union Home Minister Amit Shah on September 10, honoring the state police's new benchmark in cybercrime control. The ceremony, held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, recognized the exceptional performance of the Cyber Helpline 1930 initiative.
Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Cyber, Mamta Singh, attended the event, which underscored Haryana's leadership in combating cybercrime nationwide. The recognition solidifies the state's growing reputation for excellence in this critical area.
DGP Kapur extended his congratulations to the Cyber Helpline 1930 team, urging continued dedication. He noted a significant increase in personnel and strategic efforts. Speaking to ANI, Kapur detailed collaborations with banks, the RBI, and telecom companies aimed at preventing cyber fraud. Awareness campaigns have also played a crucial role.
The quick response to cybercrime has led to a significant increase in blocked fraudulent funds, from eight percent in September 2023 to 36 percent by August 2024. Moreover, if a fraud complaint is filed within six hours, up to 70% of the defrauded amount can be blocked. Haryana, previously ranked 25th, now holds the top position in blocking cyber fraud amounts nationally.
The event marking the first anniversary of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) saw senior officers from various states in attendance, celebrating several new initiatives aimed at preventing cybercrime.
