Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on the National Conference, Congress, and PDP during a rally in Jammu-Kashmir's Mendhar on Saturday. He accused these parties of spreading fear and terror in the Valley, just days ahead of the Assembly elections in the Union territory.
Shah praised the contributions of soldiers from Jammu-Kashmir in wars against Pakistan since 1947 and criticized former J-K Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah for the rise of terrorism in the 1990s. He said the BJP government's leadership under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has eradicated terrorism from the region, empowering its youth with laptops instead of stones.
Reflecting on the enhanced political participation and security situation, Shah noted a significant increase in local youth contesting elections, and claimed that Pakistan now fears the Indian government. Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi termed the withdrawal of statehood from Jammu-Kashmir as unconstitutional and promised restoration of rights and prosperity if the INDIA alliance wins the election.
