The government has greenlit the continuation of the PM-AASHA scheme, allocating Rs 35,000 crore to ensure farmers receive better prices for their produce and to stabilize essential commodity prices for consumers.

The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the extension of the Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay SanraksHan Abhiyan (PM-AASHA). An official statement noted that the scheme would provide remunerative prices to farmers and manage price volatility through 2025-26.

The integrated scheme, which includes components like the Price Support Scheme (PSS) and Price Stabilization Fund (PSF), aims to improve implementation efficiency. This initiative also aims to encourage farmers to cultivate more pulse, oilseed, and copra crops, reducing dependence on imports and benefiting consumers with stable prices.
