In a significant move, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will vacate his official residence and give up all facilities provided to him, AAP MP Sanjay Singh confirmed on Wednesday. The decision comes following Kejriwal's recent resignation, which he announced ahead of the scheduled February elections.
Speaking at a press conference, Singh emphasized the sacrifices Kejriwal plans to make, noting his departure from provided amenities and security measures. 'I have full faith that the people of Delhi will give Arvind Kejriwal a certificate of honesty with a huge majority,' Singh said. 'He has served the people of Delhi with complete honesty and sincerity.'
Singh also addressed concerns regarding Kejriwal's safety, acknowledging multiple attacks against him and his decision to forgo Z-plus security. 'We tried to explain the importance of his house not only for his role as Chief Minister but also for his security,' Singh added. Kejriwal, however, expressed his trust in divine protection, opting to live among the common people post-resignation.
