A significant Ukrainian drone attack has resulted in a massive explosion and partial evacuation near a large Russian arsenal in the Tver region, reports from war bloggers and local media confirm.
The attack ignited giant blasts and a blaze in Toropets, a historical town with a population of just over 11,000, located 250 miles west of Moscow. Firefighters are currently working to contain the fire, according to Igor Rudenya, governor of the Tver region, on the Telegram messaging channel.
Unverified social media footage shows a huge fireball and loud detonations. NASA satellites detected multiple heat sources, and earthquake monitoring stations registered a minor quake. The targeted arsenal, constructed in 2015 at the cost of $39 million and operational since 2018, stores missiles and explosives and has high-security features.
