Congress leader Ajay Maken visited Tughlaq Road Police Station on Wednesday to file a complaint against Union leader Ravneet Singh Bittu, who made controversial remarks regarding Rahul Gandhi, the Lok Sabha leader of the opposition. Bittu's comments were in response to Gandhi's claim about oppression faced by Sikhs in the country.
Addressing the media, Maken said, "Bittu had warned Rahul Gandhi that he would meet the same fate as his grandmother. Indira Gandhi was shot 34 times, and Rahul's father was killed while attempting to maintain peace. Such comments target someone whose family members have sacrificed their lives for the nation." Maken further added that the ruling BJP did not even attempt to silence or condemn Bittu's remarks, which he described as a new low in Indian politics.
Moreover, Maken highlighted that another BJP leader offered a reward of Rs 11 lakh to anyone who cuts off Rahul Gandhi's tongue. He criticized the BJP for not liking Gandhi's advocacy for minorities, Dalits, and backward classes. Maken asserted that the Congress is not intimidated by death threats and will ensure their leader's voice remains unsuppressed.
Maken emphasized the seriousness of the threats, affirming that Congress would not back down. "We are not afraid of death threats. We have filed a complaint against Bittu and others, demanding strict action. Threatening someone's life publicly is illegal, and we expect the authorities to act accordingly." He mentioned complaints filed against BJP ex-MLA Tarvinder Singh Marwah, Shiva Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad, BJP MP Ravneet Singh Bittu, and UP minister Raghuraj Singh. (ANI)
