The Federation of All India Farmer Associations (FAIFA) has praised the Indian government's digital initiatives in agriculture, emphasizing their importance in deterring youth from leaving the farming sector. Announced recently, these seven schemes, worth Rs 14,000 crore, promise to address both agrarian distress and market uncertainties.

FAIFA President Javare Gowda stated that these initiatives are more than just technological upgrades; they aim to alleviate the challenges of climate variations and unprofitable farming, which drive the youth away from agriculture. According to FAIFA, the schemes will generate new job opportunities and demand for various skills, making rural life more attractive for young people.

The Digital Agriculture Mission (DAM), one of the pivotal elements, plans to create an 'agri stack'—a comprehensive database including a farmers registry, village land maps, and crop sown registry. FAIFA General Secretary Murali Babu expressed optimism that this digital revolution could not only revive the agriculture sector but also ensure it remains India's largest employer.
