In a landmark move, the government has rolled out numerous farmer-friendly policies within its first 100 days of the third term, Cooperation Minister Amit Shah announced on Tuesday.

Addressing the media, Shah explained that these initiatives span Rs 15 lakh crore across 14 sectors, underscoring significant milestones in agriculture.

Among the highlights is the disbursement of Rs 20,000 crore to 9.5 crore farmers under the PM-KISAN scheme, which has now reached its 70th installment, totaling Rs 3 lakh crore to 12.33 crore farmers. Shah emphasized that these measures aim to uplift the farming community, enhance foodgrain production, and boost exports. The government also hiked the minimum support price (MSP) for 2024-25 kharif crops and repurposed sugar mills for ethanol production. Additionally, the minimum export price on onion and basmati rice has been abolished to aid exports.

Shah affirmed, 'Compared to the UPA regime, the Modi government has procured more crops at MSP, showing our commitment to farmers' welfare.'
