An encounter erupted between terrorists and security forces in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials reported on Friday. The exchange of fire took place in the Pingnal Dugadda forest area, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Chhatroo.

Security forces opened fire on the terrorists in the forest area Friday evening. Delving into details, officials confirmed, 'Security forces engaged in an exchange of fire with terrorists in the Pingnal Dugadda forest area, located in the upper reaches of Naidgham village, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Chhatroo in Kishtwar district.'

Meanwhile, in another operation, two terrorists were neutralized at Khandara Kathua by troops from the Rising Star Corps. They posted, 'Two terrorists were neutralized in the ongoing operation at Khandara Kathua by troops of the Rising Star Corps. Operations in progress.' Additionally, earlier in the day, security forces busted a terrorist hideout in Surankote town of J-K's Poonch district, the J-K Police revealed.

The statement from J-K Police detailed the events of September 12, 2024, stating, 'On specific information, a joint search operation was launched by Police/Army and CRPF in Chamerd Surankot in the early hours.' The militants fired upon the security forces, who retaliated efficiently. Taking advantage of the thick forest cover, the militants managed to escape. Additional forces were deployed, and the area was secured.

During the search, security forces discovered a hideout, recovering arms, ammunition, and eatables. A case has been registered, and an investigation is currently underway.
