Amid the ongoing controversy over the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, a coalition of Muslim social workers and Islamic scholars voiced their support for the government during a meeting in Delhi. The group stressed that mistrusting the government's intentions is not appropriate.

Speaking to the press, Islamic Scholar Mufti Wajahat Qasmi noted that the meeting aimed to dispel confusion stirred by certain political parties. He asserted that claims about the government seizing Muslim land are misguided. "We convened to eliminate misunderstandings. Our meeting was peaceful, and we should trust the government's intentions, which aim to benefit needy and poor Muslims," Qasmi said. He urged the public to review the bill before forming opinions.

Social activist Mohammad Tahir Ismail echoed Qasmi's sentiments, urging grievances to be directed to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC). He argued that illegal occupants of Waqf land would be curtailed by the bill. "Encroachers misuse Waqf land, depriving needy Muslims. The government aims for transparency," Ismail stated. Both scholars and activists appealed to protesters to present their views to the JPC constructively.
