In a dramatic rescue, locals saved a 31-year-old woman who attempted suicide by jumping into a creek in Maharashtra’s Thane district, officials reported on Friday.

The woman, who resides in Khartan Road, plunged into the creek at Kalwa around 9 a.m., according to Yasin Tadvi, chief of the Disaster Management Cell of the Thane Municipal Corporation.

Firefighters and civic rescuers rushed to the scene after being alerted but found the woman had already been pulled to safety by quick-thinking locals. The motive behind her suicide attempt remains unclear, as Kalwa police continue their investigation.
