After a recent wolf attack left two women injured in Mahasi village, the UP Forest Department has intensified its operations to capture the last of a pack of 'killer' wolves. DFO Bahraich Ajeet Pratap Singh confirmed that day-and-night operations are ongoing to capture the elusive sixth wolf.

'Our teams are conducting search operations in various locales nonstop. Given the heavy rain, the wolf might have relocated,' Singh noted. He also mentioned that tracks around the homes of the victims suggest dog or jackal activity, not a wolf.

The Division has already caught five wolves, with one remaining at large. 'Operation Bhediya' was launched to tackle the increasing wolf attacks in Bahraich, which have led to nine deaths and over fifty injuries across 25-30 villages. Snap cameras have been installed in probable wolf habitats, and residents are urged to stay indoors at night.
